Unconditional Gongjing

Dec 8, 2022

Gongjing is a heart quality that I hold dearly. Thirty years ago, on a special occasion, I was fortunate enough to receive the teaching of Gongjing from a special person. That sent me off on an immeasurably rewarding journey of reconnecting my heart. In the quest to find the true meaning of Gongjing, I uncovered gratitude, love, openness, and eventually trust in my heart. The growth of my heart opened the door to an incredible development of realization and wisdom. Thirty years on, Gongjing has become part of me but the journey continues. New experiences and insights never cease to emerge. I am still curious about what more this amazing heart quality is going to bring.

What is Gongjing? It is the culmination of the manifestation of the heart qualities, including trust, openness, love, and gratitude, and more. When Gongjing manifests, all these heart qualities are present and manifesting in a pure, unconditional way. It is the state when the heart is completely one with the True Self. It is a state of great unification and harmony.

A distinct experience of Gongjing is the disappearance of the sense of self. You are no longer yourself. This doesn’t mean you don’t exist anymore. Rather, it is your false self that gives way to your True Self. When your True Self fully manifests, all you feel is oneness, being part of everything. The boundary between you and the outer world dissolves. You are in everything and everything is in you. You are no longer the center of your reality. Life is an experience of totality. You can still feel though. You feel in awe of the greatness and beauty of the true reality.

In the state of unconditional Gongjing, you and the universe are unified. Your Qi and the universal Qi totally merge. Your body is no longer a barrier to the exchange between your Qi and the universal Qi; it is all one open space. A strong sense that your body belongs to the universe naturally arises, and there is no more fear of death. Your heart and Shen merge with the universe, opening the channel for accessing the wisdom of the universe. You become the vehicle for manifesting and embodying the wisdom of the universe. Fully aligning with the law of the universe becomes the only way to go forward with your life. There is no longer a need to subject your life to the control of unhealthy patterns because the universe guides you forward with the best possible plan. All you need to do is surrender to the universe and you will be rewarded with all the freedom you could imagine, true freedom. Everything you do will be beneficial for your own growth and for others.

Gongjing will make a difference to your life the moment you embrace it. You can start with cultivating true respect and humility. The other four qualities – trust, openness, love, and gratitude – are essential elements for Gongjing. Where possible, combine any of them with Gongjing. You will find that not only Gongjing grows; Gongjing will also deepen the experience of other qualities.

Enjoy your adventure of exploring Gongjing!

Polarized Thinking and Loss and Gain
