Shen, the True Self

Shen is the source of the heart and the consciousness. It is also referred to as the “True Self” because it possesses the true qualities and abilities of a human being. We can say Shen is the essence and the true identity of one’s life. It is the real ‘I’.

Shen has three main abilities:

  1. Ordinary abilities – The ordinary abilities of Shen manifest through the consciousness. These include the senses and faculties of the consciousness with which most people are familiar.
  2. Special abilities – This term refers to abilities that, for want of a better description, we can simply say are beyond ordinary abilities. Special abilities enable us to obtain information or initiate change without using the ordinary senses or consciousness and without the use of physical force. They include direct knowing, direct sensing, special vision (seeing things that are invisible to most), penetrative vision (seeing through a physical barrier), remote vision (seeing things that are outside the range of physical vision), moving (shifting objects without any physical force being used), and many more.
  3. The ability to come to realization (true understanding) and manifest wisdom. This is when Shen can function without the unhealthy patterns of the consciousness blocking, filtering, and twisting information and therefore Shen is able to see the true reality. When this ability fully manifests, the “True Self” is in charge of life.

Every human being has a Shen with the above abilities, even if the second and/or third have not fully manifested. It is through these abilities that Shen receives, processes and transforms information and directs life accordingly. Since the abilities of Shen play such a vital role in life, we can say Shen is the “true you.”
